Brought my Mercedes in for an alignment after I was less than thrilled with tire wear after one at the dealership. They were more affordable than the dealer by a bit and very transparent as to what was changed/done and explained my experiences with tire wear. VERY VERY HAPPY with the services received and especially at the cost.
I brought in my Nissan Armada after i couldn't make any headway on a front end shake. Had it to another shop who said they couldn't find anything. The team at Beckley figured out the tires were out of balance and swapped them around and had it night and day better. Thanks again!
I've been debating on whether I should post this review or not. But I think it's important that other vehicle owners know what could happen if they bring their vehicle in. Do NOT assume that they will do what they say, and BEWARE of going here if you're a woman!!
My husband and I brought my Subaru here because we were eager to avoid Ramsey, based on past experiences. We knew my car had a possible head gasket problem. Beckleys and our advisor Corey were more than happy to take that gravy job. We were happy that they worked with our warranty company, we ended up paying little. My husband made sure to ask Corey to have the tech go over it and see if everything else was in good condition. He said the car could easily go another 100,000 miles.
After we got the car back, it started acting strange. After a few days of driving it I took it back to Beckleys and had Corey drive it so that he could see what I was talking about. He immediately told me the clutch was the problem. I'm not sure he has much experience driving manual, he seemed to stumble over it a lot. He was VERY condescending and wouldn't listen to anything I had to say.
We ended up having a new friend, that's a certified Subaru master tech, put in the clutch for much less. Still the problem persisted. He then took a look at the spark plugs, something the tech at Beckleys should have done. They were in such bad condition its a wonder my car could run at all.
I feel like they didn't want to fix something so easy and cheap to do, because they would rather keep us coming back. They wanted us to pay over $1500 for a new clutch. Which of course backfired. I'll never recommend Beckleys to anyone.
My car is now in great condition, no thanks to Corey and the techs at Beckleys.
I had my oil changed at Beckley today and it was my first experience with them.
The good: Everyone was very friendly and I enjoyed talking with them. The location is great since I work downtown, i was able to walk to work and back to pick up the vehicle. They did offer to give me a ride as well, which is awesome. The business is very clean and professional.
The average/not so good:
The manual in my vehicle states to only use 0W30 synthetic oil. The sheet I was given said that they put 5W30 in with the oil change. I called to ask about it and they said the sheet was wrong, they used 5W40, and that the oil they used is on an approved list from VW. This may or may not be an issue, but it does leave me wondering a little bit. I may call back to see if they can give the specific brand and details of the oil so I can look it up and set my mind at ease, but I'm not sure I will ever feel like I know for sure what was used.
I found Beckley on the internet and according to their page, an oil change includes a car wash if the weather permits. My car did not get washed on a beautiful day. When I called back they said it was because they don't wash cars until after noon and I had my oil changed in the morning. Possibly they should update that on the web site. While a car wash isn't a huge deal, it was one of the reasons I was able to justify the $85 charge.
Best shop in Des Moines. Steve has a great team that does excellent work. Service Advisor Chad Peterson and everyone else have always gone above and beyond expectations. As a long time Beckley customer, I highly recommend them.
My car maintenance lights reappeared soon after taking my car there. Reconnecting the hoses didn’t work. Kind of frustrated that they didn’t look further into the issue.
They reconnected the hoses to the airbox on my Toyota in a timely fashion, offered a free ride to and from my work in downtown Des Moines, gave me great insight as to how those hoses would have even become disconnected (the person from a different company who had changed my air filter a few months back hadn’t reconnected them), and washed/vacuumed my car (unexpected perk) at a great low price. I highly recommend Beckley! I’ll definitely be back for any car issues.
Beckley was able to repair the issue with my Subaru, but damaged a related part during the repair that took multiple days to get, so I had to considerably inconvenience myself and others. They charged an additional amount for the part, and the best they could offer was to either leave the car in their lot unusable, or to charge an additional $100 to make it temporarily usable again. I certainly won't be back.
I manage a chain of independent shops in the Twin Cities and understand the importance of customer service and running an honest and ethical business. Chad in the service department is someone I would be proud of representing my company.
We had a customer of ours with an engine noise and Chad and team determined the timing components replaced more than a year ago was the cause. Chad took care of the customer most importantly but also worked with our nationwide warranty to make the service as convenient to the customer as possible.
With plenty of competition in our areas of business, customer service and honesty is one of a kind. Chad at Beckley's is just that.
My son broke down in Des Moines. We had the truck towed to Beckley Automotive. Before I could call Beckley Monday morning Chad called me. He assured me he would do the best he could. Since we were a drop in I was hoping for end of the week. Chad called me on Tuesday with the diagnosis and an estimate. I received a text on Wednesday morning the repair was complete. I called Chad, paid the Bill and thanked him. Since we were a drop in from out of town they could have taken advantage of us but the simple fact is they didn't. Courteous fast service, no surprises. Very happy customer! I would recommend Berkley Automotive to anyone.
Very honest and trustworthy. They were able to detect problems in my BMW accurately and efficiently. They have excellent customer service and they also offer shuttle service which is amazing. This is my mechanic from now on and I highly recommend it to anyone.
Nicest people ever. I had an issue that was clearly the fault of the last mechanic that I had worked on my car, and these guys fixed it quickly and wouldn't even let me pay for it. I'm thankful I found a nice place I can go to in the future. Highly recommend.

I own an independent garage in the Chicago area. This morning we had a customer who was moving to Colorado, who's car we had just serviced, have a problem as they arrived in Des Moines for the night. Having met Steve in the past at industry events I called his shop right away, John, the service advisor took control of the situation, got my customers issues resolved and was very fair and professional the entire time. As a shop owner I can tell the difference from a professional operation and a not so professional one. Beckley Imports is the place you want to go if you're in Des Moines.
I was having transmission problems and they took a look at my car. Beckley's was super honest about what they could/couldn't do and made sure I understood before moving forward with anything. They treated me like I was a 25-year customer even though it was my first time going there. I highly recommend them! Great customer service.

Actually listen to the customer, they repeated most of the services that had already been completed on the car, charged me, and left the car a total mess with hydraulic fluid everywhere and the headliner half dismantled.read more
Great professionals! I live next to the shop and was having trouble with my car. I walked over a few minutes after closing time and the staff was very nice and willing to walk over and take a look. Went to BMW of Des Moines for a light on - heard "oh our computer cant talk to your car, we cant do anything....if you want us to look at THAT issue make a separate appointment but we could work on that for 10+ hours and likely not fix it"....followed by a bill for $170 for that bit of knowledge.
Went to Beckley - they had my the "communication" issue AND the "light on" issue fixed in about 45 mins. They ACTUALLY looked at the CAR....hmm. Took them a short time to find a little corrosion on a connector....my bill was $120.
....my BMW will NEVER roll back into BMW of DES MOINES. They arent BMW techs.....they are glorified parts replacers, if the computer doesnt tell them what to do - they apparently DONT know anything.
